The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child articulates the child's right to participate in the arts and their right to share in international artistic expressions.

In that spirit, and in thanks to the young artists who helped inspire Maria, net proceeds from the purchase of Maria art supplies and book bags will support access to children's visual art programs, in Canada and in Suriname, through the provision of scholarships and operating funds.

Net proceeds from all other Maria activities will go to grassroots organizations in Suriname with the intention that the funds promote the rights and well-being of children affected and infected by HIV/AIDS.
